For this image I was going to make a apple look like a cube. First of all I got an image of a green cube which i made transparent, and also I got an apple.
I then used the liquefy tool on the apple to try and fit the apple in the cube.
I then used the mask tool to crate the area in which the apple would not stretch out of.
This is the result of the liquefy.
I then used a basic soft, white brush to create the highlight effect. I then made this layer opaque to simulate the lighting effect. This technique gives the effect of shape and light.
I then rounded off the edges of the apple and created shadows. This makes it look more real.
This is where I cropped the apple core into the apple. I simply used the selection tool to select an are which i would then special paste the apple core into.
Then I used a charcole brush tool to blend the apple core in a bit more. Then I used the clone stamp tool to fill in the top part of the core so that it would make the apple look more real.
